West Coast Park is a popular park that can be found in southwest Singapore. Many visitors to the park gravitate towards the West Coast Park playground which is located close to the McDonald’s outlet. However, there is much more to discover and other things to do around West Coast Park.
Here are some of the less-well-known things that you probably didn’t know that you can do at West Coast Park.
What to Do at West Coast Park
1. Camping at West Coast Park
Camping is one of the things that you can do at West Coast Park. Together with East Coast Park and Pasir Ris Park, West Coast Park has a camping area. While there may be safe distancing requirements when it comes to camping at the moment, nonetheless, it is a nice and quiet place to go camping with family and friends (when allowed).
Bookings need to be made via the website or via AXS machines.
2. Kite Flying at West Coast Park
Next to the West Coast Park playground is the Grand Lawn. This large open space is ideal for flying kites. Bring your own kite since there are no shops around where you can buy a kite. There is plenty of space for you to run about and send the kite flying into the air.
3. Chess Garden
Close to the West Coast Park car park, there is a little garden with tables with chess boards on them. And the surrounding greenery of West Coast Park makes it an ideal spot for those who just wish to get outdoor and play the ancient game of chess in a lush atmosphere.
4. Mangrove Boardwalk
On the western edge of West Coast Park, there is a mangrove area. You can explore this by walking along a boardwalk. You can walk along the boardwalk at West Coast Park from the car park towards the sea. It is a nice walk and a pleasant thing to do at West Coast Park.
5. West Coast Park Pond
At the less-visited, eastern end of West Coast Park, also known as Area 1, you will find a pond with a fountain. This is a much quieter side of West Coast Park that few people visit. If you are looking for some solace, or just somewhere to enjoy peace and quiet, take a walk or cycle to the West Coast Park pond and you will find it there.
